Bay States Blades Marlboro 2nd Annual ISI "Thanksgiving on Ice" Competition, Nov. 20th, 2004 Navin
Skating Arena in Marlboro was recently transformed into a festive
Thanksgiving theme thanks to the many coaches, skaters, parents and
volunteers who started their day before sunrise to set up for the 2nd
Annual
ISI Thanksgiving on Ice competition held on Saturday, November
20th, hosted by Bay State Blades-Marlboro skating club. Bay
State Blades competitors representing Marlboro, Brockton, and Auburn
had another strong showing this year both individually and as teams.
The home team of BSB-Marlboro placed 1st overall, with BSB-Brockton
4th and BSB-Auburn 6th place overall. A total of 34 BSB skaters
competed in events ranging from Pre-Alpha to Freestyle 7, as well as
Artistic, Jump & Spin, Solo Compulsories and Spotlight events. |

In
addition to the competition, a special Freestyle 7 test session was
also held for local ISI skaters.
We are very happy with the way this test session was
conducted, said Dena Taylor of Sharper Edge Skating School from
Concord, the judges kept the session moving at good pace, and then
took time to give each skater specific feedback on their performance
which helps them to improve regardless of whether they pass or
fail. The competitions reputation has contributed to its growth, more than doubling in size from the clubs first competition held last November. We try to provide a fun and friendly atmosphere for all the skaters and their families, said Paula Dumart, Skating Director for BSB Marlboro, we want each skater leaving at the end of the day with a positive experience and looking forward to coming back next year. Every skater was presented with a flower as they left the ice at the end of their routine, in addition to the small gift bag upon checking-in for the competition.
